Tony Willenbruch of the Worshipful Company of Engineers

This coat of arms for Tony Willenbruch of the Worshipful Company of Engineers, refers to his eighteenth century Germanic roots.  This is particularly noticeable by the depiction of the Saxony  crossed horses heads in reference to the gable ends of traditional housing in that part of Germany.  It also  refers to his connections to the R.A.F.

The Description/Blazon:

Arms: Sable on each of three Bars wavy Argent a Bar wavy Bleu Celeste all over an Estoile Or on a Chief Gules a Bend sinister couped fesswise in base and terminating in chief in a Horse's Head to the sinister surmounted by a Bend couped fesswise in base and terminating in chief in a Horse's Head to the dexter Argent

Crest: A Horse's Head erased Sable bridled and maned Or charged on the neck with a Pheon Argent.

This coat of arms plaque measures 12 X 12 inches and is carved as one piece from English Cherry wood.  It is painted and watergilded using platinum leaf and gold leaf for the wavy star in the centre.

First I made a model of my design using white wax and then used the model to guide my carving.  I watergilded the plaque and adhering to the exact tones of the colours used in heraldry, I painted the finish.
