Private commission in Frome, Somerset
I met the clients for this piece in a pub in Frome during which a conversation ensued regarding sculpture, culminating in the client expressing a wish to have some stone nympths at the bottom of his garden. We agreed in my conceiving a few designs and meeting again to discuss the logistics and costs. Soon after my creative skills were let loose on a sculpture which during the course of a year (allowing for breaks) became Faith, Hope, Love. The title derives from the chapter of Corinthians in the Bible.

These are benches I completed in oak for the City of London in collaboration with City and Guilds of London Art School.
The site is on the same as the remains of a thirteenth century church razed to the ground by the Great Fire of London in 1666. The brief was to design themes in a style of carving that would refer to the Romanesque period in remembrance of the church that was previously there

All lettering is uniquely designed by beginning the letter forms in brush and ink. The forms arrived at through freeform brush lettering are then consolidated into drawn forms for the purpose of either wood or stone carving.
Lettering to me is sculptural and each design has a unique voice to express the purpose of each commission. Some lettering continues the evolutionary journey of becoming pure sculpture
